Generally the memory cards have a lock switch at the left side of the card, if this switch is at the lower or bottom position then the card gets locked for writing any new data on it. Therefore, to unprotect your card from the write protections slide this switch to upward position.

  • Issue 2: You Lost Some of Your Photos: Despite the advance nature and large data storage capacity, the camera cards are prone to data loss. You may come across situations in which you accidentally delete some photos from it. The best way to handle situations in which you lose your photos due to unexpected deletion is card recovery software. There are many card recovery tools available by which you can easily recover your lost or deleted image files.

  • Issue 3: Your Computer Becomes Unable to Read the Card: Some users complain that their memory card is not detected by their computer. Generally this happens when your computer does not support the type or size of the memory card you are using in your camera. For example some very old computers do not read memory cards that have data storage capacity higher than 2GB. In this case upgrading your computer to make it compatible with the larger cards can solve your problem.

In such situation formatting the card in the camera can make it detectable by the computer. However, formatting may cause data loss, but card recovery software is there for you to overcome such losses.

  • Issue 4: You Encounter ‘Memory card error’: A very common error message that memory card users come across is ‘Memory card error’. You can try below mentioned steps to fix this message and avoid bad after effects of this problem:

    • Try to access your data through computer by attaching it through card reader.

    • If this does not work, then check your card for errors through CHKDSK in Windows and ‘Disk Utility’ in Mac.
